My friend, Lisa, posted a great deal from Shutterfly, so I took advantage of that code to order a reusable shopping bag.  I only had to pay shipping.  After a lot of thought, I chose a photo I took in Denver when we went to Warped Tour.  MC Lars was very sweet, and I got a free CD when I told him I’m a teacher.  His Edgar Allan Poe rap songs are amazingly creative and catchy.  I have it in my CD player now.

MC Lars was making his way to his tent to sell some merch when Bela greeted him from the line.  He looked at her, smiled and said, ?Hey!  Come here, Cuddles!” and hugged her.  It’s one of our favorite memories.

Today was picture day at school.  I, however, chose not to participate.  (In my defense, when the call came for teachers needing a picture made, I had a class.)  Instead of donning a skirt and a fancy shirt, I wore my capri pants with a shirt paying tribute to Edgar Allan Poe.  I bought the shirt at Warped Tour when I met MC Lars.  He’s a clever rapper who rhymes about Poe.  He also happens to be a really nice guy.  If you’ll remember, he gave me a free CD.

I had a lot of questions about my shirt today.  The kids want to hear the CD about Poe, so I’m bringing it to class long enough to play my favorite track—number seven.

Stay tuned for more news concerning Warped Tour!  We are in Denver resting up for tomorrow’s concerts!  Scott was kind enough to drive after I got a bit misplaced.  He got us to the hotel, but we had almost three hours to kill before check in.  Scott (and Siri) managed to chauffeur us to Hot Topic at the Pavillion Mall…where I proceeded to spend way too much money.  In my defense, it was Bela’s first trip to that store, and there are so many cool things to buy!  Some of the T-shirts were on clearance, and the deal was buy one, get one for $1.  What else could I do?

After Hot Topic, Scott was able to navigate to Myxed Up Creations.  It was quite interesting, but I made no purchases there.  There were a lot of skull items on display.  After that, we hit Starbucks for some energy and motivation.  Our last stop before returning to La Quinta to check in was Hobby Lobby.

Birthday Surprise

Lisa, our friend (of many years) in Virginia sent Bela a birthday package.  The box was taped well for protection, so Bela had to work to unveil her prize.  I already knew what was in there, but I didn’t tell!

Warped Wednesday

Since my teen daughter and I are heading to Warped Tour in August, we faithfully check the website every Wednesday to see what new bands have been added to the line up.  A few of Ysabela’s favorites are signed up: Black Veil Brides, Bebe Rexha, New Year’s Day, Pierce the Veil, The Relapse Symphony, Asking Alexandria and more!  She is definitely psyched up.

She has been hoping that Adam Lambert will miraculously be added, but I don’t expect it to happen.  She will have a blast at Warped Tour anyway…….I will be hiding out chilling in the “reverse day care” tent for parents who need a break.

Ysabela nearly scared me to death yesterday.  We were sitting across the desk from each other when she checked her phone, took a breath and screamed!  I jumped like I’d been shot from a cannon.  I thought she had seen a spider or something!  It turned out that the text was to update her about Warped Tour.  One of her (many) favorite bands—Pierce the Veil—had signed on to appear!  She already has her ticket for Denver, so she is READY!

Warped Tour

My daughter is nuts about the coming Warped Tour concerts.  I signed up for concert alerts and fan club tickets sale information and discovered that the closest concert to us is in Denver.  To Ysabela’s delight, five bands she likes confirmed their participation today.  More announcements will be coming on Wednesdays for the next few weeks.  Being the super mom I am, I even signed her up to get updates.  As you might imagine, she was thrilled.

I found out that there is “reverse day care” at the concerts for parents who need to rest.  They will have a tent set up with air conditioning, beverages and misting fans.  A complimentary parent admission is also included for minors attending the show.  That’s pretty cool if you ask me.

What Ysabela doesn’t know (and since she doesn’t read my blog I can say this) is that I already have her an early Christmas gift—a ticket to the Denver concert!  If you hear a scream around Christmas time, it will be her.  🙂
