Funny or Not?

Our town had its share of pranks for Halloween.  I’m sure it happens all over, especially in the larger cities.   I happen to think that vandalism of any kind is not funny.  It’s the criminal destruction of property.  Smashing pumpkins and scattering hay bales all over the place might be mild, but it leads me to believe that maybe parents should be a bit more specific about acceptable behavior on any night, not just on Halloween.  There’s funny and then there’s property damage.

Nobody’s kids are perfect.  As a parent, I am sure of that!  I didn’t do pranks as a kid because I knew the consequences for ridiculous behavior.  My parents made sure I was aware.  My parents might have done some mischief as kids, but they certainly taught me better.  Truthfully, I can’t imagine either of my parents doing anything malicious as kids.  They also knew better.

I wonder how the vandals (because that’s exactly what they are) would feel if someone treated them the same way.  It might not be funny anymore.

New ‘Do!

2015-10-29_0001

This morning was great!  It took me about two minutes to wash and condition my new (short, dyed) hair!  Lisa at Cosmo cut at least ten inches of ponytail off yesterday.  It felt like the weigh of the world was tied up in that hair.

Bela sat there as if waiting for me to lament the loss of my long hair, but I was ready for it to go.  I think she expected me to yell something like, “Oh, NO!  What have I done!?!”  Nope.  Lisa snipped, and I smiled.

Lisa has mad styling skills, so she had me looking sharp yesterday.

Cupcakes, Anyone?

Bela and I had some ideas for cupcake flavors after we tried the White Zombie coffee drink in Broken Bow Friday.  We tried three new flavors: White Zombie (white chocolate and peanut butter chips), Captain Sparrow (cherry and rum), and the one Bela calls Hallelujah (peanut butter and coconut).

We went to several willing taste testers and the clear winner of the night was the Captain Sparrow.

A to Z!

The last time Bela and I went to the “city,” we made a stop by a wonderful book store—A to Z Books.  We love it there because the store has a mellow resident cat (!) and used books as well as new ones.  Bela was lucky enough to find a book she had read before and loved (obviously) and a new one to keep her busy.  I found a book for a friend (that I had to read before mailing).

Bela loves books almost as much as I do.

I enjoyed this book so much!

Practice!

Bela was still coughing pretty bad yesterday, so she stayed home while I went to target shoot.  😦 for Bela; 🙂 for me.  The target seemed really far away, but I managed to hit it a few times anyway.  Butch (our coach)was kind enough to let me waste some ammo.  When I told Bela I got to shoot the Smith and Wesson, she was jealous.

Japanese

You might remember that Bela and I received a Try the World box featuring Japanese foods.  We have not yet tried everything, but Bela decided to try the seaweed and tea this weekend.  The tea was a hit!  The seaweed, however, was not.  Sometimes we need to work up to trying new foods.

Fortunately, we have also found Panda cookies in North Platte stores…we are always willing to try cookies!

Glad To Be Awake

I sure was glad to wake up this morning!  I was having a really strange dream.  The brain is an amazing tangle of synapses, and mine integrated some interesting items from my subconscious last night to form a frightening series of events.

For some unknown reason, I had been hired to sing some Spanish songs by Selena.  Like that wasn’t odd enough, I found myself searching for a band to play for me.  The concert was scheduled to begin in a few hours.

For you poor souls who don’t know which Selena I’m talking about, here’s a link!
