There are some amazing organizations in Nebraska. Cat rescue people from Beatrice, Lincoln and Omaha collaborated with several organizations to trap, neuter and return feral / neighborhood cats from Wymore, Blue Springs and Liberty. Trappers worked hard Thursday and Friday to round up what they could. They had a goal of 150 cats. They were able to take care of 234 felines today!
The people involved are battle seasoned warriors who want to end animal suffering. They have seen too much sadness, and they do what they can to help owners, cats and communities. I couldn’t get a count of how many people were working or volunteering there this morning.
Kansas State University sent three mobile surgical units to the event. There were at least four vets doing some amazing work. There were so many organizations involved, I know I’ll leave some out, but Beatrice Humane Society’s Carlee F., was the mastermind behind the community service. She knew the right people to ask for assistance, though! Organizations like The Purpose Rescue, Brave Animal Rescue, The Cat House, Oakview Veterinary Clinic and Southeast Community College also assisted with this endeavor.
I’d like to say a special thanks to Carlee, Alexis and Jacqueline for being so nice to me today. Special thanks to the Wymore Fire Department for allowing this to happen there!
